Tim Tebow...The Mile High Messiah?

If you have had your TV on a channel that talks or even mentions sports in the past few weeks, you have heard Tim Tebow's name. As a starter for the Denver Broncos Tebow has gone 5-1, with everyone including Broncos Executive V.P. of Football Operations and Hall Of Fame QB John Elway saying he can't! That is nothing new for Tim and only pushes him to work harder and compete to the highest of his potential.

As an avid sports fan I could not stand Tim Tebow when he dawned the Orange and Blue every saturday afternoon! I loved to hate the SEC, the Florida Gators and yes even Tim Tebow. Why? Because Tim Tebow was a leader, a competitor, a winner, and most of all, Tim Tebow was not on my team! LOL Most of the nation felt the same as I, they were sick and tired of seeing this kid run all over their team, and his squeaky clean reputation didn't help either. This kid exploded on the college football scene, winning the Heisman Trophy as a sophomore and also a National Championship as a Junior.

Tim Tebow gave all the credit for his talent, not to his dad, coaches or those who helped him develop his skill along the way. Jesus Christ was who he always seemed to mention whenever in the national spotlight! That made me curious, intrigued and wanting to find out who Tim Tebow really was. What I found not only shocked me but turned me PRO-TEBOW.

His Father prayed for a Son, for the lord to bless him with a preacher. Tim's dad got that plus a 1st round draft pick! With all of that talk about Jesus comes the flack for it, which Tim also takes in stride. Former Bronco QB Jake Plummer has come out saying he respects Tim, but he needs to chill on the Jesus talk. When asked about it Tim explained, "If you're married and you have a wife and you really love your wife, is it good enough to only say to your wife 'I love her' the day you get married? Or should you tell her every single day when you wake up and every opportunity? That's how I feel about my relationship with Jesus Christ" He is not only  catching flack  for professing his faith but also when he kneels to pray on the field or sideline, which is now being called "Tebowing" and even has a definition on Urban Dictionary.com. When asked about this he simply stated, "It's not my job to see people's reasons behind it, but I know [of a kid] with cancer that tweeted me, 'Tebowing while I'm chemoing' -- how cool is that?" Tebow said. "That's worth it right now. If that gives him any encouragement or puts a smile on his face, or gives him encouragement to pray, that's completely awesome."

The stand he is taking on his faith, and all the "Thank You Jesus", plus throw in the 5-1 record as a starter and people are coining him the Mile High Messiah. A little over the top, maybe? What you can't argue is Tim Tebow makes it really hard for you not to want him to succeed. From winning the Heisman, to getting picked in the first round, to starting 5 and 1 in the NFL, there is some reason Tim Tebow keeps proving everyone wrong and I don't think it's based all on talent, I have a feeling   he would agree as well!

New Blog...New Coach...Fun Times!

For a while I have thought about how cool it would be to start a sports blog, I love writing and in the past I often used it as an outlet. What I love even more is sports, and when I say love it, it is on a whole different level than many other girls out there. I can tell you what a 4-3 Defense is, the difference between a Flag and Post route and why the west coast offense does not work with a crappy offensive line. (which evidently Pat Shurmur doesnt even understand) I can tell you what a balk is and what players pulled off a 6-4-3 double play, I know when a team is running a 2-1-2 zone defense and how to break it. All that being said sports are a passion of mine, not a hobby or something my husband drags me to or makes me watch on TV. I have used Facebook notes in the past to rant, rave and state opinions on big games or breaking news and the layout of it all is just weak! I wanted a place that others can come too and know exactly what I think about a certain topic and comment, without having to say it over and over on my wall. So here it is...Just a Girl and Her Sports Blog...ENJOY!!!

Welcome Home, Urban Meyer!!!

What night to reveal this new blog deal than the the night when OSU announces the new football coach!  Friends on my Facebook know that I have been hoping, praying and wishing this day would come ever since rumors started swirling in October. I believe Coach Meyer is exactly what this Buckeye Program needs to get back to their winning ways. I believe Braxton will fit his offense perfectly and will run the Spread with the greatest of ease! The recruits he will bring to this great state will be second to none, and is what this program needs after a year of black clouds looming over our heads. I love being a BUCKEYE and am excited to see where Urban Meyer will lead this great Football program!!!!
“I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to return to Ohio State. This University and the State of Ohio have enormous meaning to me. My duty is to ensure that Ohio State’s football program reflects and enhances the academic mission of the institution. I am part of it, I believe in it, and I will live it." - Urban Meyer
GO BUCKS!
